With the decline of art being taught in many schools, it becomes increasingly important to teach art appreciation to kids at home. Doing this through hands-on activities is a really fun and engaging way to help kids connect with some famous works of art and artists.

Teach Art Appreciation
We recently had the opportunity to check out a Marky.com Box, a monthly box delivered to your doorstep with an art project (enough to make 2!) aimed to inspire creativity, confidence and self-expression. I’ll be honest, as a believer in the importance of art, I was excited about this opportunity and expected to find various markers or paints, with something fun to draw on. WHOA. Was I shocked when I opened the box and found some really awesome supplies to make our own mini Bruce Nauman bronze hands! Check it out.
The box came with the different supplies to mixing the mold and the plastic, complete with items to make the process pretty mess-free, and a mask for safety.
M (5) and I had SO much fun making these together! He had his hand in the mold for a minute or so and then got nervous about it getting stuck, so I took over 😉 I wasn’t complaining, that was cool!
On the Marky website, you find this:
We started this company with two very important goals in mind. We hope that Markybox will provide a better way for kids to express and grow their creativity amidst the chronic underfunding of arts education across the country as well as help families create more meaningful moments by enjoying quality time together, unplugged and uninterrupted.Click on the image below to see more! Trust me, you will not be disappointed.
This was so spot on. I love a company that believes in meaningful, unplugged family moments, and even more that that, I love a company that can deliver meaningful, unplugged family moments. I can’t wait to see what else they have to offer! And now I have this pretty cool bronze statue of my hand 😉 Because you know, who wouldn’t want one of those?!
Check it out, and if you decide to give it a try, let me know how you like it!
