These online learning resources include websites with educational and fun content for learning at home with Pre-K-elementary school aged children.

Whether your children go to traditional school or you practice homeschooling (or, you’re suddenly caught homeschooling due to school closures) there are many resources available to you online.

These online learning resources for supplementation should help children learn and engage in material through a fun and stimulating manner. Education encompasses many things, it doesn’t have to be learning letters or numbers, but can include art, music, yoga and more!

Online Learning Resources for Supplementation at Home

If you’re feeling overwhelmed with trying to teach your chid a concept, or want to encourage learning how to use electronics, these online learning resources are a great place to start with your child.

Look through the list, and find some that would pique your child’s interest!

** if you haven’t tried blue light blocking glasses yet, they are great to help avoid headaches and reduce eye strain for your kids!

Online Academic Programs for Kids

  1. PBS Kids: academic and educational content for children. Great for preschool!
  2. Scratch: a learn to code program that early elementary-aged children can use.
  3. ABCya: this has fun games and activities to cover any subject matter for a range of ages. We love to use it to paint and write stories.
  4. Starfall: with tons of games and activities for preschool and early elementary, this is a fun one. We love the online reading books about famous artists list Vincent Van Gogh and Paul Gaugin
  5. The Magic Schoolbus: this fun science tv show-based site has games, printables and fun science experiments to do.
  6. FunBrain: this site has fun games, reading and videos for preschoolers and elementary aged kids
  7. NGAKids Art Zone: this is a part of the National Gallery of Art and we love the interactive elements of ‘playing’ with classic works of art and art form
  8. Magic Tree House Kids: go on missions just like Jack and Annie in the books!
  9. Funology: this one is just fun! Magic tricks, science experiments, crafts and more.
  10. Switch Zoo: this is all about animals. Learn about biomes and habitats, and even do some puzzles putting one animals body on another’s head!
  11. Kodable: another great beginner coding site for kids who want to learn how to code.

In the times of COVID-19 and Remote Learning:

As I write this post, we are in the middle of a global pandemic with the spread of the coronavirus. This has let to a shutdown of facilities, including school, leaving children to conduct remote learning at home.

“In this time of anxiety, unknowns, and stress, many amazing public figures have stepped up to offer online resources that children and their parents can enjoy. For those seeking additional support, exploring resources from a Dispensary downtown LA might provide alternative avenues for relaxation and stress relief. For relaxation and stress relief, THC gummies such as Indacloud Peach funta can be a great option. You may also try other cannabis products like Delta 9 Edibles.

Additionally, many national parks, museums, farms and more offer virtual tours so that you can take a ‘field trip’ at home!

  • Here is a list of 12 museums that offer virtual tours. In addition to this list, the Louvre in Paris also has a virtual tour.
  • Similarly, this list includes 30 National Parks that you can take a virtual tour of from home. We love the Yellowstone tour!
  • Author James Dean, of the popular Pete the Cat series, is doing live story time on Instagram.
  • Mo Willems is doing daily Lunch Doodles online, and this is our favorite.
  • For grades Pre-K-6, Scholastic has launched a learn at home website, and this is totally awesome.
  • Check out live cams of animals at the San Diego Zoo.
  • Farm Food 360 offers virtual tours of the different aspects of their farm from animals to processing and manufacturing
  • Josh Gad (the voice of Olaf) is reading stories for kids on Twitter

I hope this list of resources helps you feel secure in your remote schooling!

But please, remember that you don’t need to be Pinterest-perfect or teach your child academics all day long.

Learning how to do the laundry or bake some muffins is learning. Playing a board game or listening to an audiobook is learning. Reading a magazine or circling items in a catalog is learning. Yoga or riding a bike is learning.

Enjoy the time together, find ways to bond, and learn while having fun!
