This sensory bin for kids uses candy corn and rice as a base for this fun fall sensory play. Children will love the bright colors, and while it might be discouraged, it’s technically edible for children who might sneak handfuls of their sensory play. This candy corn sensory bin encourages fine motor skills through fun.
Candy Corn Sensory Bin
Let’s be honest, I would venture to say that most people don’t like to eat candy corn. While some do enjoy the sugary sweet fall candy, many find it in their home for various reasons and then wonder what to do with it.
We’ve done candy corn science experiments and exploration, and love to use it as a sensory bin filler in this candy corn sensory bin.
What you need for the candy corn sensory bin
- Candy corn with pumpkins
- Rice
- Ziploc bag
- Food dye
- bin
How to make the candy corn sensory bin
Add rice to 2 separate Ziploc bags.
Add a few drops of yellow and orange food dye and mix.
Once you have your desired color, put on a cooking sheet and bake at 220 degrees for 20 minutes, or until it is fully dry. Let cool.
Add to your sensory bin. Add some candy corn and other sensory tools and enjoy! Children love various scoops, spoons, bowls or funnels to use for their exploration.
Other sensory tools or figurines can be added to make the bin more fun to play with or more educational. I like to add measuring spoons and measuring cups for fun math for older children too!
