Roll a Christmas Tree Playdough Mat for Kids

My kids love homemade board games, and I love how budget-friendly they can be! This can be played a few different ways depending on the age of your children and their interests. This is a playdough mat that can double as a board game for turn-taking and collaborative play. Or, for competitive kids, print off multiple copies and take turns, seeing who can build their snowman first!

What a great Winter activity for kids. Grab a copy of our Roll a Snowman playdough mat while you’re at it!

What you need for the Roll a Christmas Tree playdough mat:

Roll a Christmas tree playdough mat

Laminating pouches or machine

Dice

Playdough of various colors

How to use the Roll a Christmas Treet playdough mat

Print the playdough mat by clicking on the image below. Print multiple tree boards, or just one to work on collaboratively.

Once printed, laminate these mats so the playdough doesn’t stick to the paper, and for lasting durability.

There are three ways you can use this playdough mat:

  • as a stand-alone playdough mat
  • as a collaborative game
  • as a competitive game

To use this as a playdough mat:

Children can simply use the mat to build their own tree, referring to the various parts as prompts. They can challenge themselves by rolling the dice, trying to complete the entire tree on their own. This is fun as a quiet activity, and practices number recognition on dice with sensory play.

To use this as a collaborative game:

Playing collaborative games is great for turn-taking practice and team work. Working together, players can take turns rolling a dice and building a piece of the tree. If the dice lands on a number that has already been rolled, the next player continues with their turn. See if you can complete the snowman!

To play as a competitive game:

Each player gets their own tree playdough mat. Players take turns rolling the dice and adding to their mat. If the dice lands on a number previously rolled, that player loses their turn and the next player continues play. The first player to complete their tree wins!

Have so much fun with this roll a Christmas tree playdough mat for kids!
