Set Up Your Bug Activity for Preschoolers
This bug activity is perfect for fine motor skills! These little bugs are quite adorable and realistic looking, making it great for a preschool bug/insect unit, or as a busy work activity at home.
What you need:
- fake moss
- tray (I love these wooden Montessori trays)
- insects
- tweezers
- magnifying glass
What to do:
Place all of the bugs hidden inside of the moss in a large tray. These little mini garden bugs from Safari LTD are really cute and perfect for many activities!
Give your little exporters tweezers and magnifying glasses so that they can hunt for bugs in the grass.
Providing an extra tray for them to place the bugs in as they find them makes it easy for them to see their progress and boost confidence. It also makes it easier for the little bugs to stay in one place 😉
Kids will want to hunt for these bugs over and over again! To make it a fun game for peers, kids can take turns being hiders and finders. Preschool aged kids love to hide objects for their peers to find! This bug activity for preschoolers then practices turn-taking and team building as well.
Enjoy hunting for your bugs with this simple fine motor activity for preschoolers!
