Playdates are the perfect opportunity for kids to practice social skills like turn-taking and sharing while moms get a chance to engage in adult conversation. Win-win. When hosting a playdate, I like to come up with a few simple activities that the kids can do together. This DIY bean bag toss game is one of our favorite toddler playdate ideas. Even very young kids love to play in dry rice, and scooping and dumping is actually excellent for early learning!
Check out how we make our homemade bean bags and play with them, and then read on to see TONS more toddler playdate ideas below!

Make Some No-Sew Bean Bags for Kids
Grab some old mismatched socks and fill them with dry rice. (Kid-sized socks are great for this, however adult socks work well too if you cut the top half of them off.) Add some dried lavender to make them smell great, adding an extra sensory element.
This is actually a great activity for 1 and 2 year olds, as they will love to scoop the rice! To make the process a bit more manageable, you can place the sock inside of a cup, folding the top over.
After filling the sock about half-way, tie the top with a knot, and your DIY bean bag is complete!
Make a Simple Bean Bag Toss
Take an old cardboard box (hello, Amazon Prime) and cut holes in the bottom. This is a great opportunity to get creative! Cover the entire box with some fun Duck Tape (we chose Minions) and play!

This DIY bean bag toss game can be taken outside or played with indoors. Kids can take turns throwing the bean bags, and can share the ones they have created. What a fun way to practice some social skills while having fun!
