As part of our bug theme this week, we made these great magnet clips today! They were so incredibly easy to make and can be as detailed or simple as you want so can therefore be great for young toddlers as well as older children. We are also focusing on the letter B for bugs, so were able to talk about the letter B in butterfly today as well!
All you need is:
-coffee filters
-washable markers
-spray bottle
-magnet tape
-clothespins
I started Ava’s coloring for her but surprisingly she picked up the marker and started coloring it herself! I love that she is learning new skills every day 🙂
Once you have colored the majority of your filter, give your kid’s a bottle of ‘magic spray’. I actually have a water bottle named this for when we do projects that require a little bit of magic 🙂 As you spray the filter, the colors will begin to blend together, which gave us an impromptu opportunity to talk about color mixing!
We then laid them out to dry on an old towel. As long as your are using washable markers the color won’t stain so don’t worry about any drippings that land anywhere.
Once the filter has mostly dried (a very quick process) bunch the filter together in the middle and clip with a clothespin!
So easy right?!
You can stop here for a cute spring/summer decoration or you can continue on to make a magnet.
I love this magnet tape for small projects. It’s very easy to use and inexpensive. We just cut some little pieces and stuck them onto the back of the pins.
A little smiley face and voila!
I love that these double as a refrigerator clip for little notes or pictures!
