We all know how important hand washing is to staying healthy. Despite all of our preparedness for flu and cold season, washing our hands is really our best protection. I’ll be honest in saying that my kids don’t have the best hygiene naturally, they need reminders to brush their teeth, take a bath, and wash their hands. This Handwashing Bingo game is a fun way to help them remember to keep those germs hands clean! Plus, we always love printable games.
Handwashing Bingo Game for Kids
We recently got over the flu in our house, and with the Corona Virus spreading rapidly, I’m doing everything I can to protect my family from getting it.
I’m trying to rely on preparedness rather than hysteria in this particular situation. I have stocked my basement with non-perishable food, medication, and cleaning supplies in case of a quarantine type situation, or to avoid the need to go to a store if necessary.
But, the best way to really protect my family is to make sure we all wash our hands.
Why is hand washing so important?
We touch so many objects and are exposed to so many germs on a daily basis.
After this germ exposure, we touch our eyes, nose and mouth without even realizing it. We prepare food and eat with our hands and touch other people in our family.
Washing hands with soap and water is the best way to avoid contracting illnesses such as the flu. This fun hand washing Bingo game will help kids remember (and want to) wash their hands throughout the day!
How to play Hand Washing Bingo:
Print out one of the bingo boards below. They both have the same text, but you can choose from a blue/green color or a pink/purple.
Tape the game board to the bathroom wall where children can see it easily.
Encourage children to look at the different prompts and wash their hands accordingly. Some of the game spaces include prompts such as:
- wash hands for 20/25/30 seconds
- wash hands and sing Happy Birthday
- wash hands and sing the ABC’s
- wash hands and blow a soap bubble
- wash hands and give yourself a compliment
As the children complete a square on the Bingo board, mark it off by coloring or placing a sticker over it.
To re-use the same board multiple times, laminate the board and use a dry erase marker to mark the spaces off.
If you want to choose a prize for completing a Bingo line or a blackout on the board, it might be fun for your children. But, you don’t have to! Kids will enjoy the game in and of itself.
For my own children, we have decided that after getting a blackout (filling the entire board) we would go for ice cream. After each Bingo line, we do a happy dance as a family.
