As a parent, I feel like the holidays are filled with stressors regarding what to give to all of the important people in your life. From teachers to coaches, gift giving can be difficult. I have found that lottery tickets are always ‘a winner’, and this lottery ticket cake is sure to impress.
DIY Lottery Ticket Cake for Gift Giving
In the past, we have gifted lottery tickets to family and friends and they are always well-received. In previous years, we made a lottery ticket tree for friends in the past, and this year we are kicking our lottery gift giving up a notch by making a two tier lottery ticket cake!
This is such a fun gift to make and give. You will be thrilled to give this to a teacher, coach, or family member for the holidays.
The New Jersey Lottery has four Holiday themed Scratch-Offs available for the Holiday season. These Holiday games make for the perfect gift, stocking stuffer, party favor, etc for anyone and everyone on your list over the age of 18.
What you need to make the lottery ticket cake:
two aluminum cookie tins
NJ Lottery holiday scratch offs
double sided tape
ribbon
holiday decor
How to make the lottery ticket cake:
This is so much simpler than it seems, and it really does make an impressive gift. Plus, aside from the lottery tickets that you can get at local stores such as Wawa and 7-11, I got all of the materials from the Dollar Store.
Purchase (or recycle) two aluminum containers such as holiday cookie tins, one larger than the other. Wrap the double sided tape around one of the cookie tins, and attach the NJ lottery tickets to the tape. Double sided tape is great for this as it isn’t too sticky and the scratch-offs should remove easily from the lottery ticket cake.
To be extra safe, make sure you are attaching the lottery ticket to the tape in a place on the ticket that isn’t vital to redemption. For example, avoid taping over the barcode or any of the scratching areas.
Continue taping and adding tickets until both ‘tiers’ or cookie tins are covered in lottery tickets. Then, add the ribbon by wrapping around the circumference of the tin, securing the lottery tickets on the round space.
Stack the rounds one on top of the other, and secure. Then, decorate your cake! Add embellishments or various holiday decor in empty spaces of the lottery ticket cake. We chose to use some wreath embellishment and bows on the top of ours, holding the highest value lottery ticket as a fun bonus.
This lottery ticket cake is so much fun to make and gift, plus, the receiver won’t be able to hold back from scratching! This makes such a simple and stress-free gift to give as a parent.
I know we would love to win big from the NJ lottery and go on a family vacation, which makes the thought of gifting that opportunity to someone special in our lives even more exciting!
Plus, if their lottery ticket is a non-winner, they can enter it into the Million Dollar Replay for another chance to win. How fun!
