Rainbow Water Bead Sensory Bottle for Kids
Growing water beads is such a fun process for kids to observe, it feels like pure magic. If you are hesitant to let your children play with water beads for fear of choking hazards or a big mess, containing them in a sensory bottle is a fantastic alternative. Plus, your kids can still help with and enjoy observing the fun growing process.
What you need to make the rainbow water bead sensory bottle:
1 (16 ounce) plastic storage/sensory bottle (available at Michaels or similar)
About ½ cup water
Water beads of various colors
Glitter
How to assemble the water bead sensory bottle:
Place 1 teaspoon of water beads in 3 cups of water for approximately 6 hours. Use as many colors in separate bowls as you like to build your rainbow.
Once the water beads have enlarged, drop them into the plastic bottle in layers with the glitter. Try to keep like colors together. To avoid the colors getting mixed up when shaken, tap the bottle often to make the water beads settle into an even layer.
Once the water beads are up to the top, add enough water to fill in the cracks. Seal the lid tightly.
If desired, cover the lid with duct tape or additional decorations to keep children from opening and dumping out the water beads.
This is such a beautiful sensory bottle for children to play with.
Try holding it up to the light or shining a flashlight through it for an added sensory experience. Use is as a hands-on tool for teaching the rainbow too!
