“Alexa, play raining tacos”. That was the beginning of our love for Alexa in our house. Now that we’ve discovered Alexa Skills for kids in our home, it’s one of our very favorite things to do.

Amazon Alexa Skills for Kids
The Amazon Echo has numerous capabilities, and it seems that each day they are improving and expanding. Did you know that the Echo is a great tool to have at home? From games, music, news and more, there are so many ways kids can use Alexa.
Below are some of our favorite! There are almost 75 on this list, so take your time to check out the categories, and read the brief descriptions, to see which would be best for your kids. Then, print the cheat sheet below, so that you never forget them!
Alexa Games & Stories
We LOVE the Amazon Alexa games. From choose your own adventure stories, to animal sounds and yoga, to classic games of hide and seek, Alexa is here for it. Check out some of our favorites below, and don’t forget to print the cheat sheet at the bottom of this post, so your kids can remember all of them too!
While many of these are solidly in the 5-12 age range, plenty of them are great for toddlers too!
Trivia and Thinking Games for Kids
Trivia is so fun to play together! Learn something new and put your skills to the test.
Family Trivia: fun trivia for all ages, this gives you two choices to answer from, making it fun for younger kids to play too. Say, “Alexa, open Family Trivia”
The Queen’s Mathmetician: mischievous elves have captured the Tree Queen, and she will need to be rescued by young mathematicians. With early math facts, word problems, and imagination, this a a great adventure for kids 5-10 or so. Say, “Alexa, open The Queen’s Mathematician”
Kids Quiz: with new questions every day, kids aged 5-12 will put their knowledge to the test! Say, “Alexa, play Kids Quiz”
Geo Quiz: these questions are tough! But, great for learning some geography, and the answers are given in multiple choice. Say, “Alexa, start Geo Quiz”
State Capitol Game: answer with the name of the capital city to the state that Alexa gives you. Say, “Alexa, open State Capital Game”
World Detective: chase down the clues to pursue criminals around the globe, great for older audiences, and reminds me of Carmen Sandiego! Say, “Alexa, start World Detective”
Mighty Trivia: guess what Alexa is pretending to be with multiple hints and answers, and see how you match up against the world wide leaderboard. Say, “Alexa, play Mighty Trivia”
Disney Hits Challenge: test your knowledge of Disney titles, characters, and lyrics from Disney’s most popular songs. Say, “Alexa, play Disney Hits Challenge”
See Say: based on the classic children’s toy, this Skill has 24 animal sounds and over 350 fun animal facts. Say, “Alexa, play See Say”
Lemonade Stand: kids can pretend to own a lemonade stand, they need to use math skills to sell lemonade and make a profit based on the weather and how much they sell. Say, “Alexa, open Lemonade Stand”
Akinator: this is a mind-reading skill! See if by asking a few questions, Alexa can guess what you are thinking. Say, “Alexa, start Akinator”
No Way That’s True: test your knowledge of weird facts around the world, and meet some Nickelodeon stars along the way! Say, “Alexa, open No Way That’s True”
Math Facts: practice addition, subtraction, multiplication and division in sets of 5 problems. Math practice is fun with this one! Say, “Alexa, open math facts”
Spelling Bee: see how many words you can spell in this game solo or against friends. For older audiences. Say, “Alexa, play Spelling Bee”
Highlights Magazine: this classic kids magazine can tell jokes, tongue twisters and brainteasers. Say, “Alexa, ask Highlights to tell me a brain play/play me a poem/for a story”
Kid Chef: play along as a junior chef, help decide on a menu and cook the dish. Say, “Alexa, open Kid Chef”
Guess the Song: can you guess the song just by popular lyrics without the music? Say, “Alexa, start Guess the Song”
Alexa Stories and Adventures
Listen to a bedtime story with Amazon Storytime, or choose your own jungle or underwater adventure. My daughter likes to doodle while she listens to these, and my 4 year old likes the bedtime stories as he drifts off to sleep, especially when he is upset that book time is over.
Amazon Storytime: tell bedtime stories, Lego stories, and more. Say, “Alexa, open Amazon Storytime”
Short Bedtime Story: put your child’s own name into this story! Say, “Alexa, tell BedTime story to Joe.”
Choose Your Own Adventure: did your child ever want to dive into the sea, go into space, or meet an abominable snowman? They can! And, Alexa will remember where they left off in their adventure. Say, “Alexa, open choose your own adventure.”
Justice League Adventures: choose your own adventure as you battle alongside popular superheroes. Say, “Alexa, open Justice League adventures”
Chompers: if your kids struggle with toothbrushing, they will love to hear jokes, riddles, facts, songs and more while they brush! Say, “Alexa, open Chompers”
Lego Duplo Stories: Lego lovers unite! This skill include animal and vehicle short stories that toddlers and big kids will love to adventure in. Say, “Alexa, open Lego Duplo stories”
Hotel Transylvania: the monsters from Hotel Transylvania 3 are here to read you a monster story or sing you a monster nursery rhyme. Say, “Alexa, open Hotel Transylvania”
Spongebob Challenge: go down to Bikini Bottom and feed the hungry citizens alongside the Krusty Krab Crew.Say, “Alexa, start Spongebob Challenge”
Three Little Pigs: let Alexa tell this classic kids’ story! Say, “Alexa, open Three Little Pigs”
Scooby Doo! Mystery Inc. Theater: put on your detective hat and solve the mystery with the characters of Scooby Doo. Say, “Alexa, tell Scooby Doo I want to solve a mystery”
Unicorn Stories: Choose your own adventure as you follow the unicorn in the story. Say, “Alexa, open Unicorn Stories”
The Magic Door: a definite favorite among many kids, the Magic Door skill allows kids to go on a magical and mystical journey solving riddles, collecting hidden items and helping creatures. Say, “Alexa, open the Magic Door”
Get Moving Games
We all know that kids are full of boundless energy! Get them moving around the house with these fun and entertaining games.
Animal Workout: kids can become animals and get some exercise, perfect for toddlers! Say, “Alexa, open Animal Workout”
Hide and Seek: kids can hide around the room, and Alexa gets three guess to see if she can find where they are. Say, “Alexa, open Hide and Seek”
Animal Yoga: encouraging creativity and imagination, kids can do these animal yoga poses. Additionally, this can help with emotion regulation as well! Say, “Alexa, play Animal Yoga”
Escape the Room: you are trapped in a room, and you need to escape! Search the room, pick up items and solve puzzles to get out. This is challenging, but SO fun. My 8 year old and I love to do these together. Beware, it will try to get you to purchase hints as you go, so make sure you have parental control in tact to prevent kids making purchases if they are young. Say, “Alexa, open Escape the Room”. For more themes for escape rooms, parents can take their kids to spots such as Labyrintoom Berlin.
Freeze Dancers: dance away to the music Alexa plays, but don’t forget to freeze when the music stops, or you’re out! Say, “Alexa, open Freeze Dancers”
Classic Family Games
Many of these are based off of TV game shows, or games you might have played in your 4th grade classroom once upon a time.
Would You Rather: fun choices for families to choose from! Say, “Alexa, play Would You Rather”
Who Wants to be a Millionaire: play every day, and work together as a family to win ‘millionaire’ status! Say, “Alexa, play Who Wants to be a Millionaire”
Beat the Intro: guess the intro to popular TV shows! Play in Echo Buttons Mode to play against one another, or play as a team. Say, “Alexa, open Beat the Intro”
Price is Right: guess the price of Amazon items currently for sale! Say, “Alexa, start Price is Right”
Deal or No Deal: play once a day, and feel what it’s like to be a contestant on this popular game show. Say, “Alexa, open Deal or No Deal”
Heads Up: based on the game Ellen Degeneres plays on her show, guess what’s on the card with the clues given. Say, “Alexa, play Heads Up”
Rock Paper Scissors: play this classic game against Alexa! There’s no way to cheat in this one. Say, “Alexa, play Rock, Paper, Scissors”
Twenty Questions: think of anything and Alexa will try to figure it out! Say, “Alexa, play Twenty Questions”
Silly Games and Sounds
Have your children ever wanted to talk to Pikachu, or learn how to sound like an animal? Here ya go!
Pikachu Talk: have a conversation with Pikachu! His sounds are pretty darn cute, and kids of all ages love this one. Say, “Alexa, ask Pikachu to talk”
Kids Animal Sounds: travel the world and listen to some awesome animal sounds. Say, “Alexa, open Kids Animal Sounds”
Silly Lingo: ask Alexa to say anything you want in Pig Latin or Gibberish, it’s pretty funny, and kids just might develop their own secret language. Say, “Alexa, open Silly Lingo”
Silly Things: kids need something to do? They can ask Silly Things for something to do, and Alexa will provide with a silly action for kids to act out! Say, “Alexa, ask Silly Things to tell me a funny thing to do”
Sesame Street: Elmo lovers will be happy about this one, they can talk to him! He can’t wait to share letter of the day facts and more. Say, “Alexa, ask Sesame Street to call Elmo”
Knock, Knock Jokes: Alexa is always ready to make you laugh with these. Say, “Alexa, open Knock Knock”

Do you have non-fiction and fact lovers in your home? These news for kids skills are great for those who always want to learn more!
Science Kid Radio: streams the latest and best science podcasts for kids, great for ages 6-12. Say, “Alexa, play Science Kid Radio”
Science Buddy: a fun and interactive way to learn about science including questions about a range of scientific topics. Say, “Alexa, open Science Buddy”

Alexa has so many fun games, stories, songs, and more…she even has potty talk. I’m making this a separate category, and these commands will not be on the printable cheat sheet…feel free to write them in on the blank spaces. My kids happen to love them, and I can’t deny snickering in the corner right along with them.
Santa Claus Poops
You can ask “Alexa, ask Santa Claus Poops to…
…start.”
…play me a poop poem.”
…play me a song.”
Fart. Yes, Alexa can fart, and it’s a different fart each time. You’re welcome.
“Alexa, fart.”
and…after you’re done with the potty talk, ask Alexa to open Complibot, it kind of cancels out the potty talk 🙂
