I know I personally love receiving a homemade Mother’s Day gift from my kids. I especially love when they create something that looks homemade, and that I can display and use all year long! This DIY lantern is perfect for this! Because there is paper inside the lantern, I recommend using a battery operated tea light as opposed to a real candle. Your kids will take such pride in seeing this displayed in their house!

This DIY lantern makes the perfect gift for Mother's Day or a birthday! Kids will love to make them, and moms will love to use them.

Make a DIY Lantern Moms will Love!

What you need:

Battery Operated Tea Light
Printable
Mason Jar
Mod Podge
White Tissue Paper
Ribbon/Yarn
Glue Gun
Foam Paintbrush

What to do:
Download the printable below, print, and cut out the heart and words.

Use a foam paintbrush to put Mod Podge on the front of the paper cutouts and glue them inside your mason jar.

Cut tissue paper in half. Glue the outside of the Mason Jar with Mod Podge and attach the tissue paper. Wrap it around the mason jar very carefully. Let Dry.

Use ribbon to wrap around the rim of the mason jar. Glue the beginning and wrap it around until you get the desired effect. Use as many or as little of the ribbon as you’d like. I layered mine with 3 different colors.

Place a battery operated tea light inside the jar! This DIY lantern is really so easy to make and your kids will love to see you use something they crafted themselves.

Happy Mother’s Day to all you hardworking moms! And remember one of my favorite quotes, “No perfect mom is real, and no real mom is perfect.” Enjoy!
