Busy bags are awesome to have on hand in many different occasions, like waiting rooms, while traveling, etc. We like to make ours out of craft foam and felt because they are simple and cheap, and my kids love them! This Christmas busy bag is based on the book Gingerbread Baby as part of the Weekly Virtual Book Club for Kids.
Gingerbread Baby Christmas Busy Bag
Read the sweet book Gingerbread Baby, or watch the reading of it on YouTube, and then create this fun busy bag, discussing or re-telling the story with kids as you play! This is excellent for reading comprehension and connecting with a story.
What you need:
Brown craft foam (buy shaped as Gingerbread men on Amazon, at craft stores, or cut your own)
Colored craft foam
Zippered Pencil Pouch
Water
Paintbrush
What to do:
If you haven’t bought gingerbread foam shapes (at the Dollar store or craft stores), cut gingerbread shapes out of brown craft foam. With fun scissors, cut some strips in varying lengths out of colored foam. Additionally, cut some shapes such as squares, circles and triangles to use as well.
Kids can create their designs and decorate their very own gingerbread baby!
Craft foam sticks together really well when wet. If you’re playing with this busy bag at home, use a paintbrush and water to wet some of the foam pieces before adding them to the gingerbread man. (Take this in the bath and stick it to the wall to play with too!)
Have so much fun with this Christmas busy bag for toddlers.
