Create some kindness candy bags with this free printable and spread a little holiday cheer! Teach kindness.

Too often this time of year we hear stories about how poorly people can treat each other. It always amazes me that people have the audacity to say or do rude things to one another. I don’t want this post to be negative, and I do see good in people just as often, if not more. However, it really bothers me when my children witness other people treating each other unkindly, M has been known to blatantly tell someone that they are rude when they do not hold the door open for him (I’m not sure how ‘kind’ that is, but anyhow…) It’s like Mr Rodgers said,

“When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, “Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.”

[Tweet “The world can be scary, helping my kids to see kindness in people can calm some of those fears.”]

Anyway, we have been carrying out our acts of kindness this holiday season and have decided to take on another kindness project as a family. We created these little goodie bags filled with wrapped candy and an attached note that says “I appreciate your kindness.” We are going to keep some of these in my purse and the diaper bag, and when we catch people doing something kind, we will give them a little pouch of our kindness candy to spread a little cheer and thanks. We are so excited about this, and would love it if you joined in!

I have created a printable of the little tags that we used, all you need to do is print them out, cut out each rectangle, fold it in half, and staple it to the top of your bag of candy! You could use those cute Christmassy baggies, but we used a plain old snack Ziplock bag, folded in half.
