Although paint brushes are a definite staple in our house, I love to find creative ways for the kids to paint. Because we are having a S’Mores Day as part of our indoor camping week, we decided to paint with marshmallows and graham crackers! To see how we have set up our campsite with 4 different learning and play-based stations click here.
I like to set the kids up with materials and then not give them any instruction, just let them create in whichever way they choose to do so. I put some big marshmallows on cooking skewers, mini star marshmallows on toothpicks so that they were like stamps, and graham cracks with a paint brush out on a tray with paint and paper.
They were drawn to the large marshmallows and did some great stamping with them!
I loved the way the stars worked, and considering 4th of July is around the corner and we just celebrated Memorial Day it was very appropriate!
He also enjoyed painting the crackers and stamping with them as well.
I happen to love artwork that is much more about the process than the result. We both had FUN with this 🙂
