These Peeps cupcakes are adorable for a Spring or Easter party treat. And, kids will love to dye the coconut and place the Peep on top!
Peeps are one of my least favorite things to eat, but, they are so much fun to craft and create Easter activities with! They are adorable for Spring and for Easter, and have been the basis of our Peeps house STEM challenge, and our yummy bird nest treats. Here we placed them on top of cupcakes for a fun, and kid-decorated, Spring treat!
Adorable and Easy Peeps Cupcakes
My kids love to help make cupcakes, and decorating the top of them is always a fan favorite. My kids also have a secret love for Peeps, and dyeing anything with food coloring, so this one was right up their alley.
What you need for the Peeps cupcakes:
- 2 dozen white cupcakes, unfrosted
- 1 can vanilla frosting
- 1 cup coconut
- natural green food coloring
- 24 Peeps Chicks
- Small zippered bag
How to make the Peeps cupcakes:
Put 3-5 drops of natural green food coloring into the frosting, stir well until all of the frosting is green. We like to use natural food coloring for activities that the kids will be eating, you can find this in the baking aisle of most grocery stores.
Put the coconut into the zippered bag. Add 3-5 drops of green food coloring to the coconut in the bag.
Shake well, until all of the coconut is coated and is green. This is a similar process that we use to dye rice for our Easter sensory bin, and one that the kids love to participate in.
Frost the cupcakes with the green frosting.
Place a Peeps Chicks in the center of frosted cupcake.
Sprinkle green coconut on the top of the cupcake, around the Peeps Chicks.
Voila! So simple, and easy for the kids to help decorate. These Peeps cupcakes would be perfect for a Spring or Easter themed party!
Have so much fun making these Peeps cupcakes with your kids! Cooking in the kitchen together is a great way to bond and have fun as a family.
