Why Playing This Pirate Board Game With Your Child Is Important
Board games are truly amazing in the fact that they are so much more than just “games”. Yes, they introduce your child to concepts that involve learning and even some friendly competition, but did you know that every board game that you play with your child is teaching them vital life skills as well?
Playing board games with your child teaches them logic skills
Not all board games are easy! And that’s okay! The more difficult the board game, the more that your child will learn. The key is to find that balance between teaching your child and not making them feel overwhelmed. This is where this pirate board game can be a great starting point for your preschooler. There are parts that are challenging, but also parts that they’ll already know.
Board games work on hand-eye coordination with your child
It takes fine motor skills and coordination to be able to reach down and pick up a game piece. Not only that, but it takes concentration and persistence to do it over and over again. Board games allow your child to work their mind and body at the same time.
If you’ve been on the fence about the benefits of playing board games, don’t delay any longer. There are so many amazing outcomes from just sitting down and playing with your toddler. Your child will love the interaction and the alone time with you and they won’t even know that they’re learning!
Planning a night of two per week where you can play toddler board games with your child (or any other ages) is a great plan! Block off the time, make a plan and then start preparing for an epic and fun family night!

Once you’ve printed the board game above, cut out the game spinner and assemble. You can choose to place a paperclip on the center of the spinner with a pencil point holding it in place, or use a paper fastener to attach the paperclip to the spinner.
Choose what you will use for game pieces. Coins work well, or other small toys. We like to dig through our sensory bin materials and find small toys that match the theming of our game. Here we used pom moms!
Follow the instructions on the game board and play over and over again. What a fun way to play like pirates and race to the treasure!
Have so much fun bonding and learning with your kiddos!
