Witch’s Brew Halloween Soap Foam
Soap foam is a great sensory bin base and can be easily themed by adding food coloring and different objects. The only downside to soap foam is that it doesn’t last too long, after about 15 minutes it starts to settle and turns to soapy water with some oobleck sludge at the bottom, which can be fun to play with too!
I love the purple color of this one with the mini cauldrons, what a fun Halloween activity for kids.
What you Need To Make the Soap Foam:
- 1/4 cup of warm water
- 2 tbsp dish soap
- 2 tbsp cornstarch (0r corn flour)
- purple food coloring or liquid watercolors
- blender/food processor (or hand mixer)
- mini cauldrons
- bin
Directions:
In the blender, add the water, dish soap, cornstarch and food coloring. Blend on high speed until stiff peaks form. Depending on the type of soap etc, you may need to adjust measurements.
*The cornstarch is what helps stiffen it up, so if it is too watery, add more cornstarch and dish soap 🙂
Pour the halloween soap foam into a bin and add mini cauldrons.
Add fine motor tools, spoons or scoops to the sensory bin to allow kids to scoop and pour and even work on pincer grasp.
I love to make a monthly sensory bin for my kids that can be placed in a lidded storage bin and taken out to be played with over and over. Additionally, we like to make one-time simple sensory bins like this halloween soap foam for some pretend witch’s brew!
Sensory play is such a great way for kids to make connections to information, and is beneficial to so many fine and gross motor skills.
Have so much fun making pretend witch’s brew with this halloween soap foam sensory bin!
