I have seen so many expensive light tables online and so many great DIY ones as well. I haven’t gotten around to splurging on one or making a good one, so I’ll show you a very simple way to throw one together at the last minute. I’m always looking for quiet activities for Mack (3 years old) to do while Ava (11 months) is napping. I would love for that to include sleeping but he gave that up a LONG time ago. I love glow-in-the-dark play and I’ve been looking for a black light the last few times I have gone to the store but haven’t
been able to find one. I will have to buy one online I guess! This one below would be great in a small light table! In the meantime I experimented with a Buddha lamp that Mack has in his room.
I placed the lamp inside of a Tupperware bin so that it would create a glowing table.
You can do so many different things from here. You could simply find different objects and experiment with what glows and what doesn’t. We love to do experiments and make predictions! Neon objects glow really well in the dark, you could find some and just play with them on your light table.
I decided to do magnetic play with these great little magnets I recently bought at Lakeshore Learning Center. The little ones are neon and glow nicely.
I laid them out on top of the table and gave Mack a magnet wand to play with. That was all he needed to be occupied for a while!
