We love upcycling toilet paper rolls! This simple feeding Frankenstein craft can be used a number of ways. They make cute indoor Halloween decorations, or can encourage fine motor practice and counting. We used them for all of the above! Check out how below.

Frankenstein Craft

What you Need:

    • toilet paper rolls
    • green construction paper
    • black felt
    • black marker
    • google eyes
    • tape or glue
    • pom-poms (optional)
    • tweezers (optional)
    • pipe cleaners (optional)
    • hole puncher (optional)

What to do:

  1. Cut the construction paper and felt to wrap around the roll. Cut a zig zag pattern at the bottom of your felt strip.
  2. Attach the paper and felt to the roll with glue or tape.
  3. Add googly eyes to the front of the tube and draw a Frankenstein mouth.
  4. You could be finished at this point if you just want to keep these for decor. If you want to take them a step further, you can use a hole puncher and punch some holes in the sides for some fine motor sewing practice.

My kids enjoyed the challenge of this one! They also like that it looks like Frankenstein’s stitches 🙂 These sparkly silver and green pipe cleaners were perfect for this.

We have been using these for some fine motor and counting practice.  To make the game a bit harder, each player started with 20 pom-poms.

We rolled a dice and pinched and fed that amount of ‘slime balls’ to Frankenstein. Play continues by passing the dice and the tweezers around in a circle, taking turns.

The first person to feed Frankenstein all of their balls was the winner! We have been playing this over and over! And they look cute displayed in our living room 🙂

What a cute idea! I knew I should have bought those Google eyes from Walmart last time I was there! I guess I can make some from felt 🙂 my preschooler will love this! And I can cook dinner in peace!

    Thanks,
    Cassidy

These are so cute! I always keep some tp rolls around for projects like this. Love how simple it is and how you included some fine motor activities too.

I already wanted to make them upon seeing them. However, the idea of “sewing” the Frankensteins with pipe cleaners is brilliant My daughter will want to do this endlessly, I know.

I can’t wait to do this with my son. His nickname is Frank (although his name is Connor) which is short from Frankenstein.. it’s from the dark days of parenting a crazed 2 year old!
