This free printable garden board game is perfect for kids. Children will enjoy drawing a vegetable card and moving around the board to plant their garden.
With the warm months on the horizon, this Garden Board Game is just waiting to be played! Visions of carrots can be dancing through your toddlers head with ease!
In our household, we talk about the importance of fueling our minds and our bodies with good food and good information. This is why I love this printable board game so much! It showcases healthy foods that you can grow in the garden and teaches your toddler about matching as well. Isn’t educating young minds a beautiful thing?
Garden Board Game
Gardening is actually a really great activity that children of all ages can help with. I have fond memories of going outside and helping out in the garden growing up, and it’s something that I’m excited to pass on as well. (Doesn’t everyone like digging in the dirt?!)
This is part of the reason that I love this Garden Board Game. I think it’s important to introduce the concept of healthy and sustainable eating to children at a young age, and board games can be a great way to introduce that concept.
It’s also important to point out that it’s totally possible to combine the love of this board game with outside activities as well – so that’s something simple and easy to do!
How to combine outdoor activities with this Garden Board Game
I often find that toddlers will lose focus quite quickly unless you change it up. One way to do this is to combine the board game, with some outdoor time as well.
Start by playing a few rounds of the Garden Board Game, and then stop and talk about what you’ve done or learned so far.
Then, why not give your little one their own gardening shovel and head out to dig in the dirt? If it’s that time of year to actually plant something, let them! They can dig their own hole in the ground and drop in some seeds with ease at any age, right?!
Plus, they’ll be ecstatic that they are getting to “play” in the dirt…little do they know that they’re actually learning as well! After a little bit of playing in the dirt and learning some gardening basics, it’s then time to head back inside and clean up.
More than likely once you’re cleaned up, your toddler will want to play the board game again to learn even more cool gardening tips!
Without your toddler even realizing it, you’ve introduced them to a fun educational game and also to how awesome gardening can be!

Sheet protectors also help with storage, as all of the pieces can be placed in it with the game board, and kept in a 3-ring binder!
How to Play the Garden Board Game
Once you’ve printed the board game above, cut out the individual vegetable game pieces and place in a pile to draw from.
Choose what you will use for game pieces. Coins work well, or other small toys. We like to dig through our sensory bin materials and find small toys that match the theming of our game.
We found these small trees from one of our Toob sets that seemed like a perfect fit, and they even stood on their own, a must for my 7 year old.
Follow the instructions on the game board and play over and over again. What a fun way to celebrate vegetables, healthy eating and gardens!
