Kids need engaging content when learning to read. They need a story that they can connect with and the opportunity to have choices and variety when choosing books. Reading can be a challenge for some, but by having books that they really enjoy and can get immersed in, they are much more excited abut the entire process. Interactive Books for Animal Lovers
My five year-old enjoys books, while he can’t yet read, his affinity for books is there. I try not to worry about his ability to read sight words or finding grade level books for him to read. I focus on making sure he enjoys the process of reading, the story, the imagination and creativity and even the illustrations. His favorite books have always been non-fiction and full of facts. Add a little bit of interaction through flaps, pop-ups, etc and he is a happy camper. When we had the opportunity to check out the Scanorama books from Silver Dolphin Books, it was like stumbling upon a gold mine. 
We have been reading the three books in the series, Scanorama: Deadly Predators
, Scanorama: Amazing Animals
and Scanorama: Dinosaurs
