This monster sensory bin is the perfect way to engage in pretend, Halloween play without being too spooky or scary for little ones.
During the day, the eyeballs are fun to squish and look for, and then at night, they glow, which has quite a different effect! What a fun Halloween activity for kids.
A Monster Sensory Bin for Everyone
What you need for the Monster Sensory Bin:
- water beads
- glow in the dark eyeballs (get them here
, {affiliate link})
- plastic bin
To Make the Monster Sensory Bin:
Prepare water beads according to package instructions (they will take hours to prepare so do this ahead of time)
Add water beads to a plastic bin.
Add eyeballs.
Play with the sensory bin during the day, adding cups and spoons for fine motor practice.
Take the bin into a dark room at night, and add a bit more water to the bin.
Dig through the creepy-feeling mixture to find glowing eyeballs!
Water beads are fantastic sensory fun for kids who are old enough to know not to put them in their mouths. If you want an alternative for the younger crowd, try tapioca pearls as a substitute. See how we used them in our Edible Inside Out Sensory Bin!
We added some recycled plastic cups to the bin as well and made some yucky eyeball soup!
I surprised my 5 year old by showing him the glowing bin at night, and he thought it was really quite awesome, and quite spooky!
The bin has a funny feel to it, with the lights out, that sense is really heightened and out cute bin turns quite creepy.
