One of our favorite ways to prepare for holidays is to engage in sensory play! We have been doing so many fun activities in preparation for the 4th of July and this red, white and blue sensory play was perfect (and tasty!). It consists of jello and whipped cream, and kids of many ages just love it. I like to include the kids in the measuring and stirring of cooking-related activities, so making Jello is always a treat!

To Make Red, White and Blue Sensory Play

What you need:

Red jello

Blue Jello

Whipped Cream

Watermelon (optional)

What to do:

Prepare the Jello according to the package and let set in the refrigerator.

Once ready, place the Jello in a plastic bin with the whipped cream. We added some watermelon chunks to the red Jello for additional fun!

You could attempt to make the American flag if you are feeling adventurous! We went with the French flag 😉

Messy play is often done in the tub in our house, the kids can go crazy and cleanup is a breeze!

They enjoyed playing with the mixture…and eating it! I got stuck with most of the Jello as A devoured the watermelon and M ate the whipped cream. It was actually pretty delicious!

And of course, they had to see how it felt between their toes! Which is what sensory play is all about!
