Essential oils can be incredibly helpful for kids, especially for those with Sensory Processing Disorder or sensory-seeking behaviors. There are many kid-safe oils for peace and calm to use in the house. Additionally, other oils can enhance sensory play with kids by adding a nice scent (this can also be great for celebrating the holidays!).
Activities Scented with Essential Oils for Kids
Essential oils are excellent for diffusing in the house with kids or making DIY gifts (like these awesome sugar scrubs), but can also be used during play! One of my children has a need for proprioceptive input which means he loves to rough-house, wrestle, chew and crash.
Items that are weighted are some of his favorite calming tools, and making a homemade sock buddy scented with essential oils is one of our favorite activities. We can decorate them differently for seasons and holidays, and use essential oils that coordinate. This Scented Snowman Sock Buddy is one of our favorites, and makes a great reading buddy.
