Essential Oils (we used Wintergreen)

What to do:
Begin by placing the white sock inside the mason jar with the top folded over, this makes the sock easier to fill for little hands (refer to the video below).
Fill the sock a little less than 1/3 of the way with rice and add a drop of essential oils (we used Wintergreen to be seasonal, but lavender is a nice and calming for children) secure the bottom ball with a rubber band.

Repeat the process until you have 3 balls full of rice.
Leave some extra material after the third ball of rice. This will become the cap. Simply fold the remaining material back down over the snowman’s head.
The snowman’s body is complete, now it’s time to decorate! Try to give your child the creative freedom to decorate their snowman however they like. They take great pride in this step 🙂
We used felt to create a scarf and a little belt to hide the rubber bands. Additionally, used buttons on the belly and the face. And a Sharpie for a carrot nose.
Their weight and squishiness make for an excellent sensory tool (even for 1 and 2 year olds)! They are great buddies for bedtime or in a calm down corner during the Winter.
