This 4th of July Playdough Mat is a great way to celebrate Independence Day. Let the kids make their own American Flag with playdough.

Having playdough mats on hand is a great way to work on fine motor skills with the kids. They’ll love being able to make their own flag and learn about the 4th of July with this 4th of July Playdough Mat. It makes a great summer activity for kids!

4th of July Playdough Mat

When is the last time that your child has played with playdough mats? There are always ways to incorporate them into your everyday learning and playtime.

What are Playdough Mats?

We love playdough mats in our house. They’re almost like a placemat but instead of using them to draw on or even eat off of, they’re outlined with pictures, words, letters, and shapes that the kids then use playdough to create.

Don’t forget that playdough gets sticky at times so you’re going to want to laminate this playdough mat before you do anything else. That way you can easily use it over and over again and not have to worry about the playdough ruining it.

Independence Day Playdough Mat

You can really use this playdough mat for a lot of different things but we use it during the month of July to get geared up and ready for Independence Day.

It’s fun to have the kids use playdough to create an American Flag and that then gives us the chance to talk about our freedoms and what America means to all of us.

Being able to combine creativity with learning is one of my favorite parts of using a playdough mat. And I think that the kids really like it as well.

Older kids will probably have more thoughts on the subject but the younger kids will certainly be listening! You can even do this activity right before heading out to buy fireworks as a fun transition and surprise. (that is if you’re able to buy fireworks in your state – I know some states have restrictions!)
