These three apple sensory activities for toddlers will engage the senses and get kids excited about the fall season.

Sensory play is not only a fun way to learn about new information, but it’s also incredibly beneficial for growing brains. Sensory play engages multiple senses simultaneously, which helps stimulate various areas of the brain. This can lead to enhanced cognitive development, including improved problem-solving skills, memory, and creativity.

Why is sensory play important?

Sensory play also allows children to explore and become familiar with different textures, smells, tastes, sounds, and visual stimuli. This helps them build a rich sensory vocabulary and understand the world around them.

Activities like pouring, scooping, pinching, and manipulating materials during sensory play help refine fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination. These skills are essential for future tasks like writing, tying shoelaces, and buttoning clothing.

When children engage in sensory play with others, it encourages social interaction, cooperation, and sharing. They learn to take turns, negotiate, and communicate with their peers, which are vital social skills. These 3 fun apple sensory activities for toddlers are great for promoting all of this in toddlers.

Apple Sensory Activities for Toddlers

Apples are often associated with the fall for many reasons. Fall is traditionally the harvest time for many fruits including apples. A visit to a farm in the fall is almost always accompanied with apple picking or fresh apple cider.

The theme of apples lends itself perfectly to activities for toddlers as they love to explore this sweet and juicy fruit. Here are 3 that kids of all ages (not just toddlers) will love to explore.

Apple Pie Sensory Bin with Scented Cloud Dough: This apple pie sensory bin uses scented cloud dough for kids to make pretend pies. This is excellent for pretend play, early math skills such as counting, and fine motor practice.

It is also the perfect compliment to the book, Ten Apples Up On Top by Dr. Seuss and includes scented cloud dough which is an edible base perfect for sensory play with babies or toddlers.

Apple Sensory Bag with Paint: Making a fall sensory bag can be a great way to involve young children in learning about the season. This apple sensory bag painting activity makes for a great fall activity for babies and toddlers, but is one older children will enjoy as well.

Apple Playdough Mats: Numbers 1-10 Free Printable:Playdough is a staple in many preschools and households with young children. And, it’s no wonder why. Playdough is awesome for sensory play and fine motor skill building, plus it is tons of fun.

We love to make or buy playdough, and find so many different ways to play. These apple playdough mats are yours to print, and are perfect for the Fall and give you a new way to practice math, fine motor skills and number recognition with kids!

Have so much fun exploring these apple sensory activities

These 3 activities will be great during quiet time, in a preschool classroom, or as a morning activity! However you decide to play with these sensory activities in the fall I know your little ones will just love them.
