DIY Stained Glass Nativity Ornament

Homemade ornament crafts are among our favorite to create in the Winter. They look beautiful and festive on the tree, and they are a fun way to make recycled ornament crafts instead of tossing items out to the garbage, or practicing fine motor skills by wrapping yarn or glueing items.

These stained glass nativity ornaments are great for toddlers to craft as they can focus on adding the tissue paper to the pre-made printable template. What a great Christmas craft for 1 and 2 year olds that look simply gorgeous.

What you need to make the stained glass nativity ornament

Tissue Paper

Scissors

Glue

Paintbrush

Brown Paint

Popsicle Sticks (regular and mini)

Twine

Black Cardstock

Contact Paper

How to make the stained glass nativity ornament

Glue 2 mini popsicle sticks to a regular popsicle stick. Make an arch by gluing 2 mini popsicle sticks together. Glue the 2 pieces together to form a stable.

Paint the stable brown. Allow to dry completely. If you are making these stained glass nativity ornaments with toddlers, pre-assemble the stable and the printable manger scene, and allow the toddlers to add the tissue paper stained glass.

While the stable dries, download the Nativity silhouette template above. Print and cut out. Set aside.

Rip tissue paper into small pieces.

Cut a piece of contact paper a little larger than the size of the stable. Cover the sticky part of the contact paper with the tissue paper. Cut a second piece of contact paper a little larger than the size of the stable and cover the tissue paper. Press out any bubbles. Cut the contact paper into the shape of the stable.
