Exploring pumpkins is such a great way to celebrate Fall with kids. These parts of a pumpkin activities will help children learn about pumpkins through crafts, worksheets and sensory play.
I love taking my kids to the pumpkin patch in the fall. Seeing the field full of orange blobs just waiting to be picked up and explored is so inviting. But what’s inside a pumpkin? And how did it get there? These pumpkin activities will help your child explore those questions and find the answers through hands-on learning (our favorite).
Parts of a Pumpkin Activities for Kids
Pumpkins make cute porch decor for the fall, or wonderful jack o lanterns for Halloween, but they are also really fun to explore. Cutting open a pumpkin and exploring the guts and seeds make for excellent sensory play and painting the outside of a pumpkin helps children explore the texture of the skin. Tell a pumpkin joke while you play and have so much fun exploring pumpkins.
On my site I have a printable parts of a pumpkin worksheet where kids can label the parts of a pumpkin and cut and create their own by placing the parts in their correct place. Now, I’m not a huge fan of worksheets as the sole way to learn about a subject, but in conjunction with some hands-on learning and play they can be great for helping kids put all of the learned information together.
