What you need to make this witch egg carton craft
- egg carton
- yellow, orange and black construction paper
- scissors
- google eyes
- paintbrush
- green tempera paint
- glue
How to make the egg carton witch
Cut an egg carton into a section of 4 egg cups and paint the egg carton with green paint. If you are using a cardboard egg carton, it might take two coats of paint to make the green bright.
Cut the hat shape out of the black construction paper. It’s essential a triangle shape with a rectangle on the bottom.
Cut a yellow rectangle to paste on the black hat.
Out of the orange paper, cut strips for the witch’s hair and glue to the bottom of the hat.
Glue the googly eyes to the centers of the top two egg carton
Glue the hat and hair onto the edge of the egg carton and add a smile and you have an egg carton witch!
Tips for doing this egg carton craft with young children:
Pre-cut the hat shape and the yellow band shape, children can practice their gluing by affixing the band to the hat.
Additionally, cut large rectangles for the hair and allow children to cut it into strips for the pieces of hair. Cutting straight lines and stopping at a pre-marked space is great for early scissor skills.
