Day of the Dead Craft for Kids
Why make a Dia de los Muertos craft (Day of the Dead craft)? This is a Mexican holiday that celebrates the souls of family members who have passed on. It’s a beautiful tradition that welcomes the souls with lovely decor and fiestas! This sugar skull craft represents the lovely Calaveras that are placed on the altar to welcome the loved ones.
My kids and I really enjoyed the movie Coco, if you enjoy it in your household, this makes a fun printable Coco craft as well! The movie really helped my kids understand this beautiful holiday.

How to Make the Coco Sugar Skull Craft
Begin by printing the sugar skull template by clicking on the image below.
Color the sugar skull with bold and bright colors using whatever medium your children are most comfortable with.
Once colored in completely or to your child’s liking, cut the sugar skull out of the white paper.
Glue the colored sugar skull onto a piece of paper. We chose to use black cardstock for its durability and the effect it gave our day of the dead craft.
Alternatively, children could paint a background on white card stock to mat the colored sugar skull on, or any other background you prefer.
What a fun and easy craft for celebrating the Day of the Dead with children, or as a Coco-inspired Disney craft with kids!
