DIY Reindeer Food Ornament
Whip up a batch of reindeer food and place it inside a plastic ornament for a fun homemade Christmas tree decoration that you can feed the reindeer with.
Reindeer Food Recipe:
Oats
Red Glitter ( <- check out these biodegradable options if you are going to sprinkle this outside, additionally you can find edible glitter)
Red Sprinkles
What you Need To Make the Reindeer Food Ornament:
Gift Tag
Twine
Permanent Marker
Funnel
What to do to make the reindeer food ornament:
Start by removing the top of the ornament and placing the funnel in the top.
Fill the ornament 1/3 of the way full with oats.
Keep funnel in place and add your red and green glitter (you can mix it or layer it), filling it another 1/3 of the way.
Next do the same with your red sprinkles until the ornament is filled.
Place your top back on the ornament and tie your twine around the top.
You can hang these on your tree until it is time to pass them out.
Give the Reindeer Food as a Gift!
What a cute favor this would be for a class gift or for cousins, nieces and nephews?!
Make a DIY gift tag for these by cutting a piece of brown card stock and punching a hole on the top.
Take your gift tag and write a sweet message with your permanent marker. I chose ” Shake and Feed.”
Using your puffy paint, make a reindeer nose at the top of the tag. Draw antlers just above, as shown.
This can become such a fun Christmas Eve tradition. We like to bake cookies for Santa and always leave out some carrots for the reindeer. This is perfect to accompany this tradition. And, birds like uncooked oats so this is fine to sprinkle outside (though you might want to omit the glitter, or use a biodegradable glitter or edible glitter).
Have the kids shake the ornament to mix their feed, and then feed the reindeer. Enjoy!
